Welcome Back to School Wednesday, August 15th, 2018 Dorothy Busch Library 23333 Ryan, Warren Michigan Hilary Kutella Community Room 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Call 586-353-0580 to register. Ages 11-17

“STEAM – Make Your Own Fossil on Monday, August 13, at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, August 14, at 3:00 p.m.” Please join us for this two-day special STEAM event. On Monday, we
will learn all about fossils and start to make our own with shells. On Tuesday, we will unmold and paint our fossils. Recommended for ages 6 to 12. Space is limited.
This program will be held in the Busch Branch Library at 23333 Ryan Road, 2 blocks north of 9 Mile Road. Registration is required. For more information or to register, call 586 353-0580

August 19, 2018: Bob Marshall and the Marshall Law Band, Country. Thomas H. Carey Concerts at the Square 2018, Sunday, 7 - 9 pm, Civic Center Park. Warren City Square is located on One City Square Drive, just east of Van Dyke and north of 12 Mile Road in downtown Warren. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. On Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., the library will host the free program, “Anime Club.” Do you like anime and manga? Longtime fans and curious newcomers are invited to watch anime, talk to other fans, create themed crafts, and enjoy snacks! Call 586-751-0770 to register. for teens in grades 7-12 and are parent-free.

Join us each Tuesday afternoon in August from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. for a different creative and fun activity! This program will be in the children’s area in Civic Center Library inside Warren City Hall. City Hall is located 2 blocks east of Van Dyke, one quarter mile north of 12 Mile Rd. No registration is required for this drop-in program. Children of all ages are welcome!

Pirate Treasure Hunt Wednesday, August 15, 2018 Arrgghhh! Pirates of all ages will get a library treasure map, complete a scavenger hunt around the Civic Center library, and find some treasure along the way. Children of all ages are welcome! No registration is required for this drop-in program. This program will be in the library. 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

S’mores ‘n’ Stories Wednesday, August 22, 2018 Children will hear some stories around the “campfire” followed by a delicious treat of s’mores. Ages 3 to 8. This program will be in the Civic Center Library Conference Room. Call 586- 751-0770 to register.6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Back-to-School Crafts Wednesday, August 29, 2018 The end is near—of summer, that is! Join us at the Civic Center Library for crafts to welcome the new school year. Ages 5 to 11. This program will be in the Conference Room. Call 586-751-0770 to register.6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Join us on Saturday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. some fun in the garden including a story, a butterfly feeder craft, and a snack! This program will be held in the library garden in Civic
Center Library inside Warren City Hall. City Hall is located 2 blocks east of Van Dyke, one quarter mile north of 12 Mile Rd. Registration required; call 586-751-0770 beginning July 28. Ages 3 to 9.

Books, Brew, & Banter is Warren Public Library's monthly book club in a brewery. Anyone looking to meet new friends and enjoy good books, food, drink, and conversation together in a laid back atmosphere is welcome to join! Don’t forget, even if you hate the book, or don't finish it, come anyway. Books, Brew, & Banter will meet on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, 7:30 pm, at Falling Down Beer Co. is located at 2270 E. 10 Mile Road, Warren, MI 48091. PLAY AND LEARN TINY TOTS – MUSIC & PLAY! Young children are invited to join us at the Miller Library on Friday, August 24, from 10- 11 am for a Play and Learn session about music! Play and learn Groups. From  Leaps & Bounds Family Services. Held every Tuesday at the Kennedy Early Childhood Center, 11333 Kaltz, Warren 48089. From April 10, 2018 to November 12, 2018 11 am - 12:30. These free groups help young children learn their colors and numbers through play. Art activities and music and movement are all designed to help children learn while providing ideas and supports to parents and caregivers.     Located at 5961 Beebe St., The Friends of the Library Book Store is now open for business!     The S.E. Aktion Club is a group of mentally or physically impaired young adults (18 years and older) and their caregivers who would like to give back to their community through helping others.     FREE supper is open to everyone and will include main entree, salad dessert and beverage. If you need to stretch your budget, want an evening of fellowship or simply don't feel like cooking, come join us the first Wednesday of every month. The dinners go from 4:30- 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 31654 Mound Rd., Warren, MI.
  • Great Lakes Caring: Compassionate Volunteers Needed!
    Volunteer opportunities with Great Lakes Caring Hospice include: providing companionship to hospice patients; offering pet hterapy (pet training required); assisting with clerical work in our office; sharing your talents (such as music, art, and crafts); providing bereavement or vigil support for patients' families; attending and helping with our Tea to Remember events; interviewing and recording patients with our Life Stories program; and more! We offer: placement in your area; local training; flexible scheduling; opportunities to anyone 17 years of age or older.   • Check Out New Volunteer Opportunities on the "Frontline"
    The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program invites seniors age 55 and older to "just do it"- make the call that can get you connected and change your life. If you have just a few hours a month, you can make life better right where you live. Change young lives by tutoring ormentoring students; help local nonprofit agencies; work in a community garden; get onboard as a hospital volunteer; or help a neighbor to continue to live independently with handyman skills.   • Foster and Adoptive Families Needed
    Methodist Children's Home Society is recruiting foster homes within Macomb County so children who reside in that area can continue to reside there and within the school district once they are placed within foster care.
