Upcoming Events:  

On Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 6:00 p.m., the Warren Civic Center Library will host Skywarn®, a National Weather Service (NWS) training class. Skywarn® is a severe weather spotting program with trained volunteers nationwide. Spotter information helps NWS provide better forecasts and warnings by conveying significant or severe weather reports such as thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes, heavy snow, and flooding.  This training includes safety information and lasts about 1.5 hours.  It is free and open to the public.  If you are interested in becoming part of the NWS volunteer network, this class is for you.

Oscar Preview With Greg Black Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 Dorothy Busch Library 6:00 PM – 7:45 PM

Bead Art on Thursday, February 21, from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. at Busch Branch Library. Create a masterpiece with beads, Perler and otherwise. Children ages 5 to 11 are welcome. No registration is required for this drop-in program. For more information, call 586-353-0580.

Warren Public Civic Center Library Hosts “Storytime Shakeup” Fridays in February at 11:00 a.m. Call 586-751-0770 to register. Please register for each monthly series individually. This program will be in the library. Ages 2 to 5.

The Warren Civic Center Library will host the free event “Stuffed Animal Sleepover” on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. Your favorite stuffed animal is invited for a sleepover at the library! Children are invited with their stuffed animals to hear a bedtime story and make a special craft. Children can pick up their animals on Thursday, February 28 after 4:00 p.m. Photos of the animal adventures will be provided. Call 586-751-0770 to register. Ages 2 to 8.

On Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 6:00 p.m., the Warren Civic Center Library will host the free program, “Anime Club for Teens.” Call 586-751-0770 to register. Teens only. This is a parent-free event.

On Tuesday, February 26, 2019., the Warren Civic Center Library will host the free program, “Books ‘n’ Bites.” Join us for our new book club for kids in grades 3 to 5. Call 586-751-0770 to register. Grades 3-5. Pick up books at Civic Center Library.

Civic Center Library Hosts “Winter Craft Break” Tuesday, February 19, 2019 – Friday, February 22, 2019 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.No registration is required for this drop-in program. Children of all ages are welcome!

Parents and their children are invited to the Miller Library’s second session of “Whine and Cheese”; a time to vent and relax while their children get to hang out in the room next door for an hour of fun stories, games and crafts. The discussion topic for this session on Tuesday, February 19, at 6:30 will be self-care for parents. For children ages 4-11 and adults of all ages. For more information, call (586) 751-5377.

The Miller Library is hosting an evening with local author Stephen Mack Jones on Thursday, February 21, from 6-8 pm. Stephen Mack Jones is a published poet, award-winning playwright, and recipient of the prestigious Kresge Arts in Detroit Literary Fellowship. His first novel, August Snow, was a 2018 Michigan Notable book. The sequel, Lives Laid Away, was released in January 2019. Registration is required. Please call 586-751.5377 with questions.     The S.E.     FREE supper is open to everyone and will include main entree, salad dessert and beverage.   • Great Lakes Caring: Compassionate Volunteers Needed!
    Volunteer opportunities with Great Lakes Caring Hospice include: providing companionship to hospice patients; offering pet hterapy (pet training required); assisting with clerical work in our office; sharing your talents (such as music, art, and crafts); providing bereavement or vigil support for patients' families; attending and helping with our Tea to Remember events; interviewing and recording patients with our Life Stories program; and more! We offer: placement in your area; local training; flexible scheduling; opportunities to anyone 17 years of age or older.     The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program invites seniors age 55 and older to "just do it"- make the call that can get you connected and change your life. If you have just a few hours a month, you can make life better right where you live. Change young lives by tutoring ormentoring students; help local nonprofit agencies; work in a community garden; get onboard as a hospital volunteer; or help a neighbor to continue to live independently with handyman skills.     Methodist Children's Home Society is recruiting foster homes within Macomb County so children who reside in that area can continue to reside there and within the school district once they are placed within foster care.
