Home | Press Release Archive | MAYOR FOUTS VETOES ANOTHER CITY COUNCIL LAWSUIT AGAINST HIM
The agreement between the Mayor and Council.
Council again votes to sue Mayor in sparely attended meeting!
In a very short notice meeting for Saturday morning at 9AM the Warren Council again has voted to file a suit against me for payment of their outside attorney fees. At the same time they have refused to recognize my right to have legal representation based upon egregious differences over the budget, attorney fees, and various appointments. Both the city council, with their legal representative recommendation, and myself all signed an agreement to guarantee that all sides had the right to obtain outside legal counsel. This agreement would have assured taxpayers that no more costly lawsuits will be commenced by council. I am very disappointed that the Warren Council chose to disregard a sincere effort to avoid costly differences through cooperation, communication, and collaboration in order to continue down the path of costly litigation! Warren taxpayers lose each time a dispute like this is dragged into court! Note: This past litigation has already cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. Enough is enough!
Sincerely,
Mayor James R. Fouts
